1. Newsletter Special Feature: Introduction to VE-Forum’s “Special Interest Groups” (IGs)

“The only source of knowledge is experience” - Albert Einstein

The interests in the field of networked organisations are diverse and so are the experiences made. We would like to point your attention towards our “Special Interest Group” Section on VE-Forum, the ideal place to discuss, to collaborate and to share your experiences with people from all over the world.

#1 Competence Profiling Interest Group: Do you know about your business partners’ capabilities? Lorenzo Pondrelli addresses the issues related to the management of individual and organisational competences in a distributed environment.

#2 Grid SIG: For this highly anticipated technology, Matti Hannus will provide guidance for RTD and assess the applicability of grid technologies and protocols for Virtual Organisations. Make sure you don’t miss the GRID workshop at ICE 2005

#3 IG Collaboration Tools: Gordon Sung takes you on a journey through the worlds of collaboration tools. What benefits do cooperation tools deliver?  What are state-of-the-art cooperations tools? What are the roadmaps in the development of cooperation tools? Don’t miss their Publications section with up-to-date benchmarking information

#4 Innovation Clusters: Bernhard Katzy’s SIG is dedicated to the idea how regional clusters of SMEs and large firms will boost business growth, the creation of jobs and wealth. Don’t forget to have a look at the group’s intermediate Workshop Results

#5 Intercultural Communication: Being tired of communication failures with your international business partners? Marc Moser invites you to enter the highly fascinating world of multicultural collaboration.

#6 SIG Legal Issues: Legal Issues are an important topic for any networked organisation, as law has been designed with traditional companies in mind. Explore and discuss legal issues (e.g. contracts, policies) together with Marco Conte

#7 Student-Center: Uros Hribar welcomes students from all over the world to get in contact with each other, to access relevant literature, conferences and projects and to exchange ideas and questions for your work. Don’t be shy and drop by!

#8 Virtual Government IG: Thomas Zwahr invites you to contribute to the White Paper on International Collaboration on eGovernment Research which was established in the Seattle Workshop that was organized by the NSF and the EU IST programme for invited European and US researchers. Interested researchers and experts should join the discussion process, future workshops and make their contributions available.

#9 VO Interest Group: If your special interest is in industrial application of virtual organisations, join Andrea Bifulco’s Virtual Organisation Interest Group. Members have for example access to an extensive list of Best Practice examples.

Do you want to open your own SIG?
