1. Introduction |
|
Dear VE-Forum user,
We are pleased to inform you about the following brand new activities related to the ESoCE-Net Community:
- The ICE 2007 Conference The 13th International Conference on Concurrent Enterprising is to be organised in Sophia-Antipollis - France - 4 to 6 June 2007. The Call for Paper and the related Programme will be soon available from http://www.ice-conference.org/
- the annual Industrial Forum of ESoCE-NET, the European Society of Concurrent Enterprising NETwork, will be held in Rome (Hotel Jolly Leonardo da Vinci - Via dei Gracchi , 324) on 4th December 2006.
The event, titled “Competitiveness and Innovation in Collaborative Clusters”, aims at offering an opportunity to Industrial players from different market sectors and from different European Regions and to Regional Development Agencies and local Government Bodies to discuss and learn how to mix the three main ingredients for regional success: Collaboration, Competitiveness and Innovation.
The idea is to confront challenges, strategies and experiences, to discuss emerging issues and opportunities from the deployment of new methods and approaches in Collaborative Innovation Clusters and, in particular, to identify experimental mechanisms to be implemented for Regional Innovation (Living Labs, Professional Communities) supporting cluster’s creativity and innovation.
The conference, organized by ESoCE-NET in collaboration with the European Commission, VE-FORUM and AMI@Work Family of Communities, is sponsored by the ECOLEAD, COMIST, LABORANOVA and CORELABS projects.

2. Emerging Trends for eProfessionals Collaborative Space |
|
The ECOSPACE project has developed an electronic survey dedicated to the emerging trends for eProfessionals collaboration space that could provide valuable input about new breakthrough collaboration scenarios and concepts.
This eSurvey is composed of several polls posted on the web sites where everyone is invited to contribute in voting. The positive aspects of using several polls to form an eSurvey is, first of all, the simplicity and short time needed to vote. Secondly, the flexibility of using several polls which let visitors make a pause after completing one or two polls within the eSurvey and come back later on to complete other polls and so forth.
This technique of electronic survey composed by several polls has already been successfully applied within the MOSAIC project. This previous eSurvey was dedicated to Future Mobile Workplaces and was posted in the AMI@Work communities’ web environment. We have got about 160 respondents that took part in the vote of the corresponding polls and about 800 readers that were interested to look at the instructive resulting figures.
This new eSurvey is also posted in the AMI@Work communities’ web environment as most of the members know already the subject and are at the same time potentially interested to see the resulting figures. There is no obligation to take part to the vote of the different polls for being authorised to take a look at the resulting figures. We don’t want people to vote anything simply because they want to get access to the resulting figures. We try to minimise the “pollution” by forced votes. We are looking to respondent who are knowledgeable and fully volunteers to contribute for the good of the community.
The following assertions presented in the different electronic polls are contributing to the shaping of future breakthrough eProfessionals collaboration scenarios and concepts. They will be permanently monitored during the coming months and years to watch their evolution and to compare their values with the predicted ones.
Each assertion implies a certain impact from the point of view of new collaboration scenarios. The question that you are requested to answer is: "Do you believe that the assertion is an emerging trend (which will have a significant impact on the shaping of future breakthrough eProfessionals collaboration scenarios)?"
When expressing your opinion, it is requested to tick only one of the 4 possible answers:
Current trend: This is a well known trend that is already existing but slowly impacting due most probably to important barriers. This type of current trend is more or less issuing a need for one or more specific practices that could be already implemented in the most advance organisations.
Emerging trend: This is a new trend that could have a real impact
Still not a trend: there is any real evidence that this phenomenon will occur as an emerging trend, but there are small signals showing that it could become one very soon
Definitely not a trend: There is absolutely no chance that the phenomenon will occur as a trend or this is already a common practice and therefore not anymore a trend.
All following electronic polls are intended to collect your vote about emerging trends that will impact eProfessionals Collaboration Space.

The above screen shot shows the resulting figures of one group of polls. A later stage analysis, when the number of respondents is considered as a sufficient minimum level, will be carried out in compiling together all groups of polls and in cross-checking resulting values for consistency purposes.
Another instructive analysis is to compare the resulting figures among the different perspectives (e.g. business, social, legal, workplace, technology and societal) at different stages in order to get the resulting timely trends.
It is presumed that this kind of eSurvey is interesting and therefore motivating many communities’ members who are actively researching on Collaborative Working Environments or more generally on Collaborative and Mobile Workplaces.
Another complementary eSurvey dedicated to “enablers and barriers” is planned to be posted soon.
Mobilise few minutes of your time and express your own opinion in voting!
It is useful for us but also useful for you and all communities… Together Everyone Achieves More!
Marc Pallot
