Part of the IST-Africa Initiative (www.IST-Africa.org), which is supported by the European Commission under the IST Programme of Framework Programme 6 (FP6), IST-Africa 2007 is the second in an Annual Conference Series which brings together delegates from leading commercial, government & research organisations across Africa and from Europe, to bridge the Digital Divide by sharing knowledge, experience, lessons learnt and good practice.
IST-Africa 2006 (Pretoria, 3 - 5 May) was a great success, attracting 309 Delegates from 38 countries and 4 continents, with Exhibitors from 13 African and European countries.
Hosted by the Government of Mozambique and Technical Co-Sponsored by IEEE, IST-Africa 2007 will focus on Applied IST research topics addressing major societal and economic challenges, which is part of the European Commission's Information Society Technologies (IST) programme. The programme combines strategic keynote presentations, technical and policy papers, case studies, workshops, an exhibition and social activities. The programme will showcase results from projects currently funded at national and regional level in
Africa and Europe as well as those funded under the IST Programme of the European Commission.

Call for Papers

Important Deadlines:
Submission deadline for full paper or workshop proposal: 30 November 2006
Acceptance decision: 31 January 2007
Final Paper Submission: 28 February 2007
The scientific programme for IST-Africa 2007 is based on an open Call for Papers The core thematic areas are Networked Business, eGovernment & eDemocracy, eHealth, Technology Enhanced Learning & ICT Skills and ICT for Agriculture.
Interested presenters are encouraged to prepare an 8 page paper (4,000 - 5,000) words following the ISTAfrica 2007 paper guidelines and paper template for submission online by end of November. Please observe the Paper Guidelines available at
www.ist-africa.org/conference2006/default.asp?page=paperguidelines and use the Paper Template provided when preparing your paper.
All submissions will be double blind reviewed by the International Programme Committee and authors will receive feedback in January. Accepted authors will then be invited to submit a final paper taking account of feedback provided for inclusion in the conference proceedings by end of February.
