Based on their shared interests in international cooperation and their tasks of knowledge dissemination, CIB, CSTB and Fraunhofer IRB have agreed to host this event.

This conference expressly intends to be an interface to link up researchers and developers of technologies and tools for information procurement and management on the one hand, and the "users", practitioners from the fields of planning and building on the other. Compared to strictly scientific disciplines, the A.E.C. community is characterised by information clients that in their majority are information technology laymen (spreading use of online search engines notwithstanding), who have to satisfy information needs under strong time pressure. Experience also shows that the implementation of online information sources into the workflow of planning and building projects still has not been embraced in the same way other industrial sectors have.
What the state of the art tools and technologies are or will be at hand in the near future, in how far they really meet the needs of the users and which problems they face, will be presented and discussed in the scope of this event.

It is the objective of this event to intensify the interrelation between information specialists/developers and the end users community, promoting the use and implementation of online information sources in the workflow of planning and building projects.
